The preliminary results of the biennial elections of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) for the 2026-2028 term have been announced. The Election Commission officially announced the preliminary results after completing the vote counting manually at around 1 am on Saturday after a peaceful day-long voting. According to the announced results, Dr. Md. Ali Afzal was elected as the president with 232 votes. Abdur Razzak won the post of senior vice president with 216 votes after a fierce competition. The active presence of the candidates and the spontaneous participation of the voters from the beginning to the end of the election made the entire process lively, a press release said.

Mohammad Akhter Biswas was elected as vice president-1 with 250 votes, Abu Khalid Md. Barkatullah as vice president-2 with 255 votes and A.F.M. Ubaidullah as vice president-3 with 234 votes.  Dr. Md. Harun Or Rashid won the post of Vice President for Finance by getting 262 votes. In addition, Mohammad Morshedul Hasan was elected as the Vice President of Chittagong Region by getting the highest number of 317 votes.

Mohammad Labib Billah won the post of Director by getting 338 votes, which is one of the highest votes received in this election. In the same post, Umme Jahan Arju and Habibur Rahman Habib won the second and third places respectively by getting 304 votes.

Other directors elected include— A.Z.M. Kamruddin, Captain Md. Shah Alam, Md. Khawaja Nazibullah, Sheikh Kamal, Md. Emdadul Hossain Sohel, Dr. N. Joha, Alhaj Professor Md. Faruk Ahmed, Tasnova Mahbub Salam, Md. Zahir Ahmed, Md. Zahid Hossain, Engineer Md.  Mostafa Kamal, Md. Emdadul Haque, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, M Fakhrul Islam, Engineer Manjurul Farhad Philip, Suruj Sardar and Alhaj Golam Kibria Majumder. Three panels participated in the election.

The new leadership expressed its expectation that all stakeholders in the housing sector—developers, buyers, investors and related government and private institutions—will work together. They hope that through united efforts, practical solutions will be found to various problems including long-standing policy complications, high registration costs, bank loan limitations and slow approval processes.

In addition, the new committee is expected to take effective steps to create a business-friendly and investment-friendly environment, ensure modern urbanization and increase affordable housing opportunities for the common people. According to the concerned quarters, through coordinated initiatives and visionary leadership, new momentum will be created in the housing sector and there will be a positive impact on the country’s economy.
