Standard Chartered, MetLife launch first inclusive employee benefits

Standard Chartered Bangladesh has partnered with MetLife Bangladesh to launch a new assistive benefits programme for employees with disabilities, further strengthening the Bank’s commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and holistic wellbeing in the workplace, a press release said.

The agreement was formalised at a signing ceremony titled “Empowering Abilities – Introducing Assistive Benefits for Colleagues with Disabilities.” The event brought together senior leaders from both organisations including Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bangladesh; and Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer; MetLife Bangladesh. Other attendees include Lutful Habib, Head of Wholesale & Retail Banking; Idrissa Kamara, Chief Financial Officer; Khairun N Haque, Country Head, HR; Khaled Aziz, Chief Technology & Operations Officer, from Standard Chartered Bangladesh and Jafar Sadeque Chowdhury, AMD & Chief Distribution Officer; Ala Uddin, DMD & Chief Financial Officer; Mohammad Kamruzzaman, DMD & Chief Corporate Business Officer and Savrina Arifin, Director & Head of Bancassurance from MetLife Bangladesh.

Through this collaboration, Standard Chartered Bangladesh is introducing specialised coverage for employees with physical, hearing, and vision disabilities. Under the benefit, eligible employees will be able to claim reimbursement for approved assistive devices with benefit limit up to BDT 3,50,000 depending on the disability. Each benefit will be available once every three years, ensuring sustained support as employees’ needs evolve over time.

In addition to these new disability-inclusive benefits, Standard Chartered Bangladesh has enhanced its overall healthcare coverage for all employees. Outpatient limits and inpatient coverage have been increased reasonably.
