Alliance Française de Dhaka hosted an enchanting musical evening titled “Poromporar Gane Dujone” on 21 May 2026, celebrating the timeless works of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam, two towering figures whose literary and musical contributions continue to shape the cultural identity of Bengal and resonate across generations, a press release said.
The programme brought together audiences for an immersive experience of Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti, highlighting the poetic depth, emotional richness, and philosophical spirit embedded within these enduring musical traditions.
The evening featured distinguished performances by Manzurul Islam Khan, a classical singer of Bangladesh who completed his Master of Music from Mumbai University, India, and Sanchita Rakhi, one of Bangladesh’s prominent singers, who earned her Master of Music from Rabindra Bharati University, India. Through their refined artistry and expressive interpretations, the two performers captivated the audience, breathing new life into timeless compositions and creating a deeply evocative atmosphere of memory, nostalgia, and cultural reflection.
The event served as a celebration of Bengal’s rich musical heritage while reaffirming the continuing relevance of Tagore and Nazrul in contemporary artistic expression. By creating a shared space for appreciation and engagement, the programme reflected Alliance Française de Dhaka’s ongoing commitment to promoting cultural dialogue and fostering meaningful artistic exchange.
