World-renowned German-based industrial yarn manufacturer, Aman Group, has taken the initiative to expand its business operations and factories in Bangladesh. This information was disclosed during a bilateral meeting of a delegation led by Aman Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Marcus Nikolaus with BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara recently, a press release said.
The meeting discussed the capabilities of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry, current challenges in the international market and various strategic aspects of future investments. BGMEA Director Md. Hasib Uddin was also present at the meeting.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan highlighted the current status of Bangladesh’s garment sector in the meeting. He said that although Bangladesh’s garment exports slowed down due to the instability in the global economy at the beginning of this year, the sector is currently turning around. He further said that Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry is now undergoing a major transformation. We have laid great emphasis on product diversification. However, our current main goal is not only to increase the volume of exports, but also to produce high-value garments. He said that in this regard, Aman Group can cooperate with the garment sector of this country in many ways, not only as a yarn supplier, but also as a strategic business partner.
The BGMEA President mentioned that there are many reputable brands in Germany that are not yet sourcing garments from Bangladesh. He requested the CEO of Aman Group to portray the radical transformation and capabilities of the Bangladesh garment industry to those brands in Germany and encourage them to start sourcing from Bangladesh.
Announcing the expansion of the factory in Bangladesh at the meeting, Aman Group CEO Marcus Nicolaus said that the future of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry is very promising. We are closely monitoring which other sectors can be invested in. In particular, there is a huge investment opportunity in the high-tech textile sector of Bangladesh. He further said that Aman Group wants to work to meet the needs of the ‘premium segment’ of the market or high-quality international brands through their products.
It is worth noting that this international yarn manufacturing company from Germany has established Aman Bangladesh Limited in Bangladesh and is conducting its activities in this country.
In the meeting, Aman Group asked about the current global and local risk factors of the garment industry, labor standards in Bangladesh and the current tariff policy of the United States and its impact on international trade. At the same time, the meeting exchanged views on the overall infrastructural development of the country including ports, energy and logistics and its future.
Also present in the Aman Group delegation were Sanjeev Grewal (Regional Business Director), Markus Grosselohmann (Director Global Accounts), Rokon Zaman (Country Managing Director), Ehsanul Haque (Commercial Director) and Arshad Hassan (Business Development Director).
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan welcomed the new investment and factory expansion decision of Aman Group and assured all kinds of strategic cooperation from BGMEA.
