Excitement and smiles filled the premises of Railway Employees Girls’ High School in Lalkhan Bazar as students received new school bags and educational materials, bringing a moment of joy and encouragement to many young learners, a press release said.
The initiative was organised by the BRAC Microfinance Programme in collaboration with Guardian Life Insurance Limited under the ‘Smart Students’ Finance Project.’ The programme aims to support underprivileged yet promising students by combining educational assistance with financial awareness.
More than 200 students participated in the event alongside teachers and school authorities. Beyond distributing educational materials, the occasion also featured an interactive discussion session focusing on the importance of girls’ education and the opportunities available for students to shape their future.
During the session, the head teacher encouraged students to take full advantage of the Communicative English Course opportunities offered through the BRAC Microfinance Programme. The discussion also highlighted the growing implortance of online learning, education savings and education insurance in helping students and families prepare for the future.
“Education gives young people the confidence to dream bigger and the tools to turn those aspirations into reality. Under the Smart Students’ Finance Project, Guardian and BRAC Microfinance has so far distributed 1,500 school bags and educational materials among students in 71 schools across Bangladesh, including Brahmanbaria Ideal School in Brahmanbaria, Kamarpukur High School in Syedpur, Nilphamari, Haman Kordi Palli Mangal High School in Chandpur Sadar, Ahamadiya Adarsa High School in Noakhali Sadar, Railway Employees Girls’ High School in Tigerpass, Chattogram, and Amzad Ali Abdul Hadi Institute in Fatikchari, Chattogram.
