NDE Enters Another Significant Chapter in Bangladesh’s Infrastructure Development

Reinforcing its long-standing legacy in Bangladesh’s infrastructure sector, National Development Engineers Ltd. (NDE) has been awarded the construction responsibility for the National Disaster Management Research and Training Institute to be built in Gazipur, a press release said.

The foundation stone of the landmark project was inaugurated on Wednesday, May 20, by the Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, at Sataish Chowrasta in Gazipur.

Planned across nearly eight acres of land, the institute will feature a modern administrative complex alongside state-of-the-art residential facilities for trainees. The estimated project cost has been set at approximately BDT Fifty crore Thirty Six lakh Twenty Five thousand.

Recognized as one of Bangladesh’s leading infrastructure and construction firms, NDE has been entrusted with implementing this nationally significant project. Stakeholders believe the institute will play a vital role in strengthening Bangladesh’s disaster preparedness capacity by developing skilled professionals and advancing research in disaster management.

The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Asadul Habib Dulu. Among others, State Minister M. Iqbal Hossain, Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Khan, and Director General of the Department of Disaster Management, Rezwanur Rahman, addressed the gathering.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized the growing impact of climate change, increasing environmental vulnerabilities, and the importance of long-term preparedness in disaster risk reduction. He also highlighted the critical role of sustainable infrastructure development and public-private collaboration in building a resilient Bangladesh.

The event was attended by the Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, Member of Parliament Manjurul Karim Rony, Administrator of Gazipur City Corporation Md. Shawkat Hossain Sarkar, senior government officials, and Deputy Managing Director of NDE Ltd., Nirjhor Noor Anwar.

Speaking on the occasion, Nirjhor Noor Anwar said,“Over the past 44 years, NDE has remained committed to contributing to Bangladesh’s infrastructure development with professionalism, integrity, and engineering excellence. We are proud to be associated with a project of such national importance. He further added, “We are confident in completing the project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining the highest standards of quality and execution.”
