RAB-7 has recovered 23,660 pieces of yaba from Karnaphuli area of Chittagong. During this, a covered van used for drug transportation was seized and a drug dealer was arrested.
The arrested Nazmul Haque (37) is a resident of Fazilpur area of Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.
RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozaffar Hossain said that on the basis of a secret tip-off that a large quantity of yaba was being brought from Cox’s Bazar to Chittagong city in a covered van, a temporary check post was set up in Fakirnirhat Shah Mohsen Aulia (R.) area under Karnaphuli police station on Thursday night and a search was conducted.
A covered van heading towards Chittagong from Banshkhali-Anwara was stopped and 23,660 pieces of Yaba wrapped in black Scotch tape were recovered from a specially made iron chamber behind the vehicle. The estimated market value of the recovered Yaba is around 70 lakh 98 thousand taka.
Later, the arrested person along with the Yaba and the seized covered van were handed over to Karnaphuli Police Station.
