IPDC and Mercedes-Benz launch EV charger at IPDC HQ Gulshan

DHAKA : In a significant step toward promoting sustainable transportation, IPDC Finance PLC. has officially commenced the operation of a state-of-the-art Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station at its corporate headquarters in Gulshan, Dhaka. The charging station has been set up by Rancon Motors Ltd., the official distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Bangladesh, as part of a broader initiative to establish a nationwide EV charging network, according to a press release.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of IPDC Finance PLC. and Mercedes-Benz Bangladesh to environmental sustainability and innovation. The charging facility, branded under Mercedes-Benz’s EQ series, is part of their ongoing mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility across the country. Strategically located at IPDC’s premises, the charging station is equipped with advanced safety features and is accessible to Mercedes-Benz EQ customers and compatible EVs.  Present at the inauguration were Rizwan Dawood Shams, Managing Director of IPDC Finance PLC.;

Samiul Hashim, Company Secretary, Head of Legal Affairs, and Head of Brand & Corporate Communication at IPDC; Redwanul Zia, CEO of Rancon Motors Ltd; Chowdhury Md Nabil Hasan, Divisional Head of Marketing at Rancon Motors Ltd; and other officials from both organizations.  Mercedes-Benz currently operates with more than 20 AC chargers nationwide with their charging solution partner Crack Platoon Charging Solution Limited. Their “Charge Easy” app, available on both the App Store and Google Play, allows users to locate nearby chargers and make secure digital payments via bank cards and mobile financial services.

This initiative is part of a larger vision to establish more than 30 EV chargers across Bangladesh by the end of 2025, including 3 DC fast chargers. With the rise in popularity of electric vehicles, thanks to lower fuel costs such infrastructure is expected to encourage more users to shift to cleaner alternatives.
