Brac Bank holds capacity-building workshop for women entrepreneurs

Dhaka : BRAC Bank, in association with the Bangladesh Bank, has organised an entrepreneurial awareness and view exchange session involving grassroots women business owners and bankers in Lakshmipur, according to a press release.

A large number of women entrepreneurs belonging to Cottage, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (CMSME) industry took part in the day-long workshop at a Community Centre in Lakshmipur on July 24, 2025.

The event aimed to promote financial literacy, raise awareness about SME financing, and empower women entrepreneurs through structured training and capacity-building initiatives led by resource persons from the central bank and commercial banks operating in the district.

Md. Mokbul Hossain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Chattogram Office, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Md. Arifuzzaman, Director of Bangladesh Bank, Chattogram Office, was present as the Special Guest.

Masud Alam, Regional Head, Distribution Network, BRAC Bank, presided over the program. Also in attendance were Mohsinur Rahman, Head of SME Business Support, BRAC Bank and other officials from participating banks.

The guests from the local business community, including representatives from BSCIC, the Lakshmipur Bonik Somitee, and the Lakshmipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participated in the session and shared valuable insights to support local entrepreneurs.

As part of its commitment to financially empowering women, BRAC Bank also distributed Open SME Loans to selected women entrepreneurs during the event, helping them expand their business ventures.

The workshop featured interactive discussions on CMSME financing and hands-on training for local women entrepreneurs to enhance their financial knowledge, business planning, management skills and access to formal banking services.

As the lead bank, BRAC Bank organised the event in compliance with Bangladesh Bank’s directive. The initiative reflects BRAC Bank’s dedication to inclusive banking and its ongoing support for the development of CMSMEs and women’s empowerment across the country.
