On the occasion of World Heart Day, a day-long “Free Heart Camp” was successfully held at Universal Cardiac Hospital in Mohakhali, the capital. Free specialized medical advice was provided to about five hundred patients at the camp from 10 am to 8 pm on the hospital premises opposite Mohakhali Rawa, a press release said.
Free specialized medical advice was provided to the patients arriving at the camp by – Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed (Chief Cardiac Surgeon), Professor Dr. Khandaker Kamrul Islam (Chief Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist), Professor Dr. Amal Kumar Chowdhury (Senior Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist), Brigadier General Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamruzzaman (Senior Cardiovascular Surgeon), Dr. Ashraful Haque Siam (Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgeon), Dr. Sania Haque (Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist), Dr. M. A. Hasnat (Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist and Medicine Specialist), Dr. Romena Rahman (Cardiovascular Surgeon) and Dr. Abdul Jabbar Jiban (Pediatric Cardiologist).
In addition, a specialized heart camp was held at the office of Dainik Prothom Alo and at the Mohakhali SKS Shopping Mall, and street camps were held at several places. In addition, a cardiac caravan toured the entire Dhaka city to increase public awareness about heart disease.
On the same day, a “Free Heart Camp” was also held for locals at Universal Medical Services Limited located on Jail Road, Brahmanbaria. There, the patients were provided medical advice by Dr. Md. Nazmul Haque (Cardiology Specialist) of Universal Medical College and Hospital.
General patients attending the camp were given a 20% special discount on all types of tests at the hospital, and members of the Universal Heart Club were given a 30% discount (subject to conditions).
