Introducing the agentic OS: How Slack is reimagining work for the AI era

Dhaka : At recently held Dreamforce at San Francisco, Salesforce’s productivity and collaboration platform Slack announced a major evolution of its platform, positioning itself as an “agentic OS” that unifies people, data, apps, agents, AI, and workflows into a single conversational workspace. The company said the move marks a fundamental shift in how work gets done transforming Slack into a unified hub where people and AI agents collaborate seamlessly, with full conversational and data context to accelerate productivity and decision-making.

The update integrates Salesforce Agentforce Sales, IT and HR Service, and Tableau into Slack, allowing teams to access customer records, analytics, and AI tools without switching between apps or dashboards. The company highlighted a BCG study showing a 30% rise in employee productivity can drive a 50% revenue increase, while IDC forecasts AI could generate over $22 trillion in global economic impact by 2030.

Now the platform included Agentforce Channel Expert, an in-channel AI agent delivering instant answers to FAQs, processes, and policies, freeing employees to focus on strategic work. Agentforce Sales provides real-time insights and record updates for pipeline management, while Agentforce IT and HR Services handle support requests and HR queries with full context. Agentforce Tableau brings live dashboards and analytics into conversations, enabling faster data-driven decisions.

Slack has also rebuilt Slackbot as a personal AI companion, capable of creating project plans, analyzing reports, extracting action items, and automating tasks across Google Drive, Salesforce, OneDrive, and more. “Slackbot is showing us what the next era of productivity looks like: AI that works alongside every employee as a personal companion. For Salesforce, that means our teams spend less effort piecing work together and more time delivering value for our customers.” said Andy White, SVP Salesforce on Salesforce Technology

The update introduces tools for developers and enterprises, including the Real-Time Search (RTS) API, Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, and AI Developer Toolkit, allowing partners like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, Dropbox, and Notion to build context-aware AI agents natively in Slack. These integrations bring conversation insights, automated workflows, and real-time collaboration directly into the platform.
