Concerns are mounting over the measles situation in Bangladesh, with thousands of suspected cases and more than a hundred deaths reported in recent weeks.
In the past 22 days, 7,610 children have been admitted to hospitals across the country with suspected measles. Of them, 929 cases have been confirmed.
During the same period, 113 children died with suspected measles, including 17 confirmed deaths from the disease.
In the last 24 hours alone, 974 new suspected infections were reported, while 654 patients were admitted to hospitals. Of those, 42 cases were confirmed.
Ten deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.
Dhaka division recorded the highest number of suspected cases, with 3,259 children affected, including 468 confirmed infections.
In the last 24 hours, most of the newly confirmed cases were also reported in Dhaka division, accounting for 38 of the 42 cases.
Rajshahi division reported the highest number of deaths linked to suspected measles, followed by Dhaka. No deaths were reported during this period in Mymensingh, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.
Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as concerns grow over the spread of the disease.
