Robi Axiata PLC has stepped forward to support aspiring young cricketers by distributing cricket kits among emerging players from across the country, a press release said.
A total of 90 “Young Tigers” from more than 50 cricket academies received cricket kits from Robi.
The cricket kits were recently distributed among these promising players at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) office. Former Bangladesh national cricketer Shahriar Nafees, former domestic circuit player Shafaq Al Zabir, and current national team regular Taijul Islam handed over the kit bags to the recipients. Representatives from both the BCB and Robi were also in attendance.
The initiative, titled ‘Ebar Notun Shopno Gortey Parbey Tumio’ (Now You Too Can Build New Dreams), is expected to play a vital role in helping young cricketers achieve their goals and further the progress of cricket in the country.
This follows an announcement made by Robi during the Bangladesh vs. Pakistan ODI series last March to provide 10 cricket kits for every 100 runs scored. The initiative aims to encourage grassroots cricketers and help them realise their full potential.
The campaign received a strong response from spectators throughout the series. Messages related to the initiative were displayed on the giant screen at Mirpur Stadium every time the 100-run milestone was reached, while the campaign was also highlighted during the live broadcast.
Based on the total runs scored by both teams during the series, 90 cricket kits were distributed. The Bangladesh Cricket Board assisted in identifying eligible and promising young cricketers for the initiative.
